simple monday blog…

sitting in the cool dark grey living room at ten am after a hot jog under the dry desert sun.  palm tree leaves waving from high above.  bunnies everywhere, running into the thick shrubs.  saying hello to passing neighbors on walks.  listening to lana del rey, “if i get a little prettier can i be your baby, you tell me life isn’t that hard.” garbage waiting to be picked up by dutiful men and women earning a paycheck.  cloudless sky.  red mountains on the left side.  bobcats sleeping in crevices, shading themselves till night.  after a restless sleep, but deep in parts.  dream: me and a friend in a titanic size ship on the sea, made of metal, strong as a superhero, during an incredible storm.  we are looking out tiny airplane size windows, watching everybody else go under in boats that don’t survive.  before sleep, watching the movie “wild” about a woman punishing herself/proving herself/rebirthing herself, by walking a thousand miles up the pacific crest trail.  blisters, heat, problems, endurance, determination.  a woman on a mission.  before that walking at sunset, awed by the sleepy sky fading from blue to orange to deep violet behind the mountains.  cloud formations the size of casinos lit on fire by the setting sun, plumed above a tiny faux cityscape, just getting oiled up for another night of adult pleasure.  intoxication by design.  booze, food, drugs, bodies, machines promising fortunes, cigarette smoke, non-stop dinging, patterns on the carpet intent on making you forget what time of day it is, a place to nestle into chemical oblivion, eyes following the dangling carrot, genitals making bad decisions, or none at all.  far away on the west side, a woman walks in a loop around her parent’s active senior paradise, where bats, bunnies, quails, and lizards make their home along side the humans.  before that eating frozen yogurt in an empty shopping center, sitting outside at a white plastic table.  before that….well, you get the idea.  everything is on the outside today.  quiet mind.  calm heart.  breathe in.  exhale.  last day of the visit.  carrying on with the tale…
